I've only watched one so far. I'm trying to figure out if I would have cheered for this video when I was Mormon. I really, really hope not. I can't imagine church leadership is pleased with this. Will they ask that it be taken down?
Wow. Really bad.
Here's a link to one part in particular in which they respond to the assertion that being sealed to someone else's wife is still immoral even if it only relates to the afterlife, since you would essentially be stealing someone else's wife. Their response is, "Hey, you don't even believe in God, what do you care??" What a terribly unsatisfying response for someone who is trying to retain their faith! Yikes. Who is their audience here? I can't imagine this being helpful to anyone.
Also, they go to a lot of trouble talking about how Joseph wasn't in it for sex and there is no DNA evidence of Joseph having children with anyone but Emma. But then they offhandedly mention he probably had sex with his wives, and then bring up Zina Huntington, who clearly had children with Brigham Young.
Whew. I'm reeling. If I had a time machine to go back and show this video to 30-year-old me, I would be genuinely fascinated to see my response. Would I eat this up? Would I be grateful someone made a rebuttal so I could just tell myself "they've done the research" and move on?
