Quick Thought: Seer Stone

For decades (centuries?), the seer stone was a bit of a secret.  A friend of mine was even called into the bishop's office to discuss his Sunday School lesson in which he spoke of Joseph translating using a stone in a hat.  Church members and local leaders didn't know he was telling the true story, because the narrative and all the church-approved images showed Joseph looking at plates while translating.

After the emergence of the internet, the church had to "come clean" so to speak, and talk about the seer stone and the real story of "translation."  Turns out the church still has the seer stone, and they've sort of been hiding it.

So... is it still in use?

We have "prophets, seers, and revelators," right?  If they're seers, do they make use of the seer stone?  Have they tried?

Just wondering.
